Southern Creatures (南海生物, Nankai Seibutsu) are large sea monsters, a type of fish, that inhabit the waters around Sindria. Before their ecology was discovered, they were called Rampaging Unicorns (アバレイッカク Abareikkaku, "rampaging narwhal"). Their natural habitat was originally a region in the southern hemisphere but they moved to a small island near Imuchakk. Some times it takes a year for them to spawn.
The body of Souther Creatures is enormous. It covered with hard coral. Their distinctive feature is their long horn.
Their meat is the best source of protein. It's perfect for preserving for long storage, like making jerky, sausage and salt-cured meat. Their bones and fangs can be used for building boats and their hair can be made into clothing, rugs and ropes. Its fat is enough to extract 10 buckets of oil, good, for instance, for fuel and cooking. Thier horns can also be used to create weapons like daggers, spears and swords, as is done in the Imuchakk tribe.
A few times a year, they will get past the lookout and come attack the island. It is the duty of King Sinbad and the Eight Generals to fight them off whenever they attack. Sinbad turned this hunt of the southern creatures into a performance. It calms the people's fears and earned them tourists. Southern creatures that are killed are an abundant source of protein, and it is distributed throughout the country to be feasted on. Sindria has referred to this harvest festival as "Mahrajan."
Every male member of the tribe must go through a coming-of-age ceremony by defeating a Rampaging Unicorn. When in age of the ceremony, his childhood name becomes obsolete and until the man defeats the Rampaging Unicorn, he is not given an adult name, but instead, is addressed as "nameless". After the monster is defeated, the feast called "Mahrajan" begins.
